I started reading The Other Side of the Sun, and read it through to the end without stopping. I immediately wanted Book Two.

Reviews

A great story. Don't know how I would have coped in that situation. Compelling.

Amaranthus is one of the best books I've read in years.

I've written all my life.

My stories tend to begin with an extreme and at least initially, inexplicable event. I'm curious about people, and how they respond to adversity, opportunity, pain, loss, and love. Humans are endlessly fascinating.

I write about things that interest me, and places that I've loved living, so recurrent cities end up in my books: Paris, Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York, Boston, St Tropez, my great love Burma (Myanmar), and of course my hometown Melbourne.

The locations are a scaffold onto which I can overlay themes: Human psychology and motivation, family and relationships, religion, ethics, art, astronomy and philosophy. But ultimately the thing I love most is stories, because in the end they're all we have.

I'm currently writing the second installment of Enceladus, and the third installment of Amaranthus. I have two other novels that have lived in my head for years, one of which I've completed a first draft for: Jericho. The others will make their way out once these other two are done.
